How to Select the Right ZIP Code for Your Campaign
Choose local areas based on service fit, demand, and your ability to follow through.
Start with service reality
A nearby ZIP Code is not automatically the best choice. Prioritize areas you can reach quickly, already serve, or can support with adequate appointment capacity.
Review your existing customer addresses and ask where profitable jobs, repeat visits, or store customers tend to come from.
Use neighborhood clues
Consider the type of property, likely need, and the language of your offer. A remodeling promotion, for example, may fit differently than a lunch special or pet-grooming offer.
Verify the available delivery area and current production requirements with your mailing provider before finalizing a plan.
Make area selection operational
Before expanding to another area, consider driving time, appointment availability, delivery radius, and the kinds of households most likely to need the service. A focused area is often easier to serve and measure than a broad one.
Keep a simple record of the areas used for each mailing. When new leads arrive, that record lets you compare response patterns without relying on memory.
Avoid treating every neighborhood alike
Different areas may respond to different services, offers, and seasonal messages. Let your existing customer experience guide the message rather than assuming one postcard will resonate everywhere in the same way.
Confirm your final delivery plan with the mailing provider before committing any time-sensitive promotion to print.
